Animals
Animal Lovers League
Volunteers needed for jobs such as dog walking, etc. Volunteers must fill out an application
to determine the needs of both the league and applicants. A training period is required.

Animal Shelter & Adoption (Brookhaven)
Animal Helper. Walk dogs, play with cats, help with
offsite adoptions and fundraisers.

Bideawee
Volunteering at the Adoption Center - Cat socializers are
needed to spend time with cats and and kittens to accustom
them to human contact in large, open cat rooms. Dog
walkers/socializers needed to help get dogs ready for
adoption.
Volunteering at the Retirement Home - Socializers needed to
spend time with older cats and dogs who are accustomed to
human contact. Dogs can be walked and cats appreciate
any time you can spend with them in large, open rooms.
(Volunteers for the above must be at least 18 years old, and
are required to participate in a training class. For the
first six months, they will need to commit to one hour per
week of service. Volunteers can come in any day of the
week between 11 AM and 3 PM)
Event/Administrative Volunteers - Volunteers are needed for
onsite and offsite events. It is not necessary to be an
Adoption Center volunteer to provide these services.
However, we do require Event Volunteers to be dedicated to any
commitments made for events.
Pet Therapy Volunteers - Volunteers needed to visit nursing
homes, assisted living facilities, hospitals and other
facilities. We are looking for volunteers who have friendly,
healthy, well-trained dogs or very agreeable cats, or other
small animal to participate in the program. An
evaluation is given to determine if the animal would be a good
match for this program. Volunteers must be 21 years old
or older and commit to one visit per month for one year.

Double D Bar Ranch (Manorville)
Ranch Volunteers needed. This ranch takes in homeless
and abused animals, and is in desperate need of volunteers to
help with the chores. Also needed are Farm Assistants to
feed animals, maintain pens, stables and cages. A great
opportunity to learn farm life and animal husbandry.

Mary Brennan Inn Soup Kitchen
Volunteers needed Thursdays and Fridays
9 a.m.– 2 p.m. to prepare, cook and serve a hot meal.
The INN is recruiting volunteers with leadership capabilities,
who may be interested in becoming Daily Coordinators to manage and oversee
the operation of the Soup Kitchen one day per week.
The INN runs five (5) emergency shelters:
three (3) for families, one (1) for AIDS and one (1) single room occupancy
for men only.
Volunteers are needed to assist the staff person with various duties.
